After a season of uncertainty amongst piano dealers in the Portland area, Steinway and Sons finds a home with Michelle’s Piano Company here in Portland, Oregon. In a Steinway & Sons press release from Anthony Gilroy of Steinway dated January 31, 2014 he issued this statement, “ Steinway & Sons, makers of the finest pianos in the world, has solidifies its presence in Oregon and SW Washington with the addition of Michelle’s Pianos to the company’s hand- picked network of exclusive Steinway dealerships. Michelle’s Piano has been a foundation of the Portland music community since 1995. It now becomes the area’s only official Steinway & Sons dealer, bringing Steinway, Boston, Essex grand and upright pianos to a vibrant community of musicians and music educators.”
Michelle’s Piano is about the music and musicians, “Lotof and his wife Michelle are a perfect fit with Steinway,” said Todd Sanders, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Each member of the sales and operation team are musicians. Lotof received a piano performance degree and has served as choral director. Kim Tooke VP of Operations received a music business degree and is a proud Oregon Duck alumni. Park Llafet, Director of Institutional Sales & Relations was a piano performance major but has had an extensive career as pianist for Holland America Cruise Line and other exclusive hotel venues. So, first and foremost by being musicians we have heart and mindset of being musicians. Michelle’s Piano is embedded in the musical community by being a partner in music education. Michelle’s has hosted Oregon Music Teacher Association and Clark County Music Teacher’s adjudication and festivals in the store, lent world class performance pianos and stage to hundreds of recitals. Hood Community College, University of Oregon, and many other fine institutions.
